Assistance to find accommodation

The International Relations Office offers exchange students reserved rooms or studio flats in student residences, offers in residences with services and a selection of offers from private owners. An accommodation guide is sent to visiting students’ personal addresses before they arrive, in order to make the necessary bookings.

Assistance in the administrative procedure

The International Relations Office helps students through the necessary steps to obtain a residence permit, housing benefits given by the “Caisse d'Allocation Familiale”, to register at the university, jointly with the “secrétariat” to get a “Sécurité Sociale” number (national insurance number) and, if necessary, to take out private insurance.

Intensive course in French as a foreign language

A 20-hour intensive course in French as a foreign language will be organised before the start of the academic year with three levels: beginner, intermediary and advanced. It is followed throughout the year by other French courses (40 hours per semester), that is 100 teaching hours per year. Students have the opportunity to take the TCF (Test de Connaissance du Français-French test) the DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française-diploma of French studies) or the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi en Langue Française-higher diploma of French studies).

The International relations office also offers refresher courses of French for the foreign students of the University of Lille 2. These courses are free of charge.
