The University reserves a special welcome to international exchange students in order to facilitate their integration in French cultural life and to help them settle in Lille.

Arrival form
The International Relations Office offers exchange students reserved rooms or studio flats in student residences, offers in residences with services and a selection of offers from private owners. An accommodation guide is sent to visiting students’ personal addresses before they arrive, in order to make the necessary bookings.
The International Relations Office helps students through the necessary steps to obtain a residence permit, housing benefits given by the “Caisse d'Allocation Familiale”, to register at the university, jointly with the “secrétariat” to get a “Sécurité Sociale” number (national insurance number) and, if necessary, to take out private insurance.
A 20-hour intensive course in French as a foreign language will be organised before the start of the academic year with three levels: beginner, intermediary and advanced. It is followed throughout the year by other French courses (40 hours per semester), that is 100 teaching hours per year. Students have the opportunity to take the TCF (Test de Connaissance du Français-French test) the DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française-diploma of French studies) or the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi en Langue Française-higher diploma of French studies).
The International relations office also offers refresher courses of French for the foreign students of the University of Lille 2. These courses are free of charge.

In addition to the intensive course in French, cultural activities are organized as well as visits to companies of the Nord Pas-de-Calais region, to allow you to discover Lille and its region.
Foreign students have access to the computers of their host university, as well as to those of the International Relations office of the University, so that they can check their emails and keep in touch with their home University.
